Who We Are

Epic Courier, LLC, is an eco-friendly messenger service located in Baltimore, Maryland. Epic prides itself on offering speedy, professional, and low-carbon-footprint customer service. Our sense of Baltimore’s streets, knowledge of legal documentation and processing, smart logistical tools, fleet of electric vehicles and bicycles, and user-friendly technology all combine to help us provide a service that allows everyone, from individuals to large corporations, operate more efficiently and accomplish more.

Transparency is important to us. Our rates are available for our clients to see, as well as our employees. We guarantee that all of our clients are treated equitably, given fair and competitive pricing, and receive exceptional service.

As a messenger owned and operated organization, every rider who carries your package has a stake in providing you with that exceptional service. We take immense pride in our work, and that pride comes from having a vested interest in what we do–when our employees are happy and work in a fair and just business environment, our clients benefit. We, the couriers, are the people who have developed relationships with the clients and their staff face-to-face, performed the delivery work, and built relations with the civil servants of Baltimore. We’re here to not just do the job and do the job well, but to constantly be on the lookout for ways to do the job better. We work hard, we work smart, and we work together to ensure your parcel arrives just as you want it.

At Epic, we are dedicated to our clients, to professionalism, to bettering the work environment for our employee-owners, and to the environment.

Tommy Barse

Tommy grew up in Frederick, and has called Baltimore home for over 2 decades. During that time he’s accumulated over 10 years of courier experience, cultivating long-term customer relationships and expertise in the more arcane workings of the state. He’s also an accomplished wheel builder–you should go check out his business: Cutlass Wheels. He enjoys watching competitive cycling, art, music, and really good beer.

Chris Bishop

Chris Bishop | Epic Couriers

Chris is one of Baltimore’s native sons, and started working as a bike messenger in 1996. In 1999, he started a courier company, Marathon Express, with Jason Kehayias; soon after, they opened a bike shop by the same name on the east side of Baltimore. Chris took a week long frame building class, and then two more, and from those experiences he started Bishop Bikes, and acquired something of a rock star status as one of America’s most respected handmade frame builders. Chris brings an incredible attention to detail and years of experience to Epic Courier.

Sarah Breant

Sarah Breant | Epic Couriers

Sarah brings much-needed feminine energy to Epic and the Baltimore bike messenger community. An avid cyclist for the past eight years, Sarah enjoys riding in all weather conditions, whether for both business or pleasure. When she’s not riding you can find her hiding behind a book or experimenting with aroma therapy oils, homeopathic remedies, and acupuncture. Whether taking on new academic ventures or delivering your packages, Sarah takes pride in her work and will make sure it’s done right. She is also mad French.

Jason Kehayias

Jason Kehayias | Epic Couriers

Jason has 20 years of experience in all aspects of the courier industry, developed from decades of riding and his time owning Baltimore’s Marathon Express with business partner Chris Bishop, of Bishop Bikes fame. He is dedicated to serving his clients and is knowledgeable of the ins and outs of the State Department of Assessment and Taxation and Baltimore’s municipal offices. His mission with Epic is to better the work environment for the courier while offering a better service to the client. He used to have dreadlocks, but no one believes him because he has had his head shaved since 1948.

Sara Kryscio

Sara K

Sara, the newest addition to the Epic team, hails from Greendale, Wisconsin. She moved to the greater Baltimore Washington area after graduating from the University of Wisconsin at Madison with a B.A. in Anthropology. She enjoys riding in all types of weather conditions and is committed to providing every client with reliable, friendly, and professional service to fit their individual needs. When Sara is not on her bike you are likely to find a guitar in her hands or on a yoga mat.

Rashad Mahoney

Rashad Mahoney

Rashad’s introduction to messenger work stared in Washington, DC, the city he spent a lot of time in growing up. Later, he found his home in Baltimore and with Epic Couriers. Rashad’s love for messenger work quickly turned to a love for cycling and racing. When he’s not working, he’s training for cyclocross, cross country riding, and road riding around his city. In spare time Rashad is either playing music or working on his and other people’s bicycles. “Messenger work has been a driving force in my life for 5 years now. Pushing me to go further with racing and giving me the space and freedom to enjoy life.”

Ken Morales

Ken Morales | Epic Couriers

Ken is slightly cross-eyed. Epic’s resident tech guru, Ken balances his time between making deliveries and keeping our technology rolling cleanly to make sure your packages arrive on-time. An experienced cyclist, Ken once biked across the country to raise money for affordable housing and also raced on bikes while attending school at Brown University, where he graduated with a degree in Science and Technology Studies in 2009. While he’s got years on the bike under his belt, he is an even more experienced computer geek. He loves biking around the great city of Baltimore (his adopted home), Triscuits, the New York Times crossword (until Thursday’s), sunlight, and watching the news on mute so he can pretend the news people are telling everyone what a great day he had.

Chris Olthoff

Chris is Epic’s resident State Department of Assessment and Taxation expert and motorcycle courier, and has been a fixture of the courier community in Baltimore since 1988. His professional demeanor, patience, and knowledge of the most arcane of legal documents have proved invaluable to his clients over the years and have continued to do so as a part of Epic. When not jousting with bureaucrats, Chris enjoys riding his Triumph motorcycle, playing softball with Team Mobtown, and relaxing with his lovely wife Corrin. SDAT client references are available upon request.

Patrick Sudduth

Epic’s resident early bird, Patrick has been out on the streets for the last four years making sure your packages arrive on time. He loves to race as well, and has done so across the USA: in Texas, Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, and Richmond. A lover of the great outdoors, when Patrick is not out riding bikes, he’s out rock climbing or hiking. Patrick prides himself on being an experienced courier who knows how to get your work done with a smile.
